Our therapists do not require a referral to assess or treat you. However, some insurance companies require a physician or nurse practitioner referral for reimbursement.
It's best to check with your insurance provider to understand their specific requirements.
Our front desk staff are happy to help answer any questions regarding your insurance coverage.

We can bill most insurance companies directly for your physiotherapy, massage and acupuncture treatments. Counselling and Dietitian services vary depending on your plan. Most insurance companies, unfortunately, do not allow direct billing for Speech Therapy.
Your insurance company protects your privacy, and as a result, we are not able to access information about your coverage. You should speak to your company about the details of your plan, as every insurance plan/policy is unique and may have maximums per treatment and/or calendar year.
Our front desk staff would be happy to assist you with any questions regarding your insurance coverage for our services.

We believe in a whole body assessment to find the root cause. Pelvic symptoms can come from issues anywhere from top to toe so we use our usual physio skills to assess and treat the whole body, establishing the cause of your symptoms as well as treating them directly.
Internal pelvic floor exams can be useful as it means we can assess your pelvic floor strength and ability to relax, and help give you feedback on how to exercise these muscles as well as do manual release if needed.
However, internal exams are NOT required and you will never be pressured to have an exam or any assessment or treatment you are not comfortable with. Check out our what to expect letter for more information on what an initial appointment might look like.

How Can We Help?
Pelvic Health Physiotherapy For Pregnancy
Our pelvic health physiotherapists have advanced training and years of experience understanding and working with the unique needs of pregnant people.
We offer well pregnancy visits to enhance your health and well being through pregnancy. If you have questions about activity and exercise in pregnancy, strengthening your pelvic floor, perineal massage or more, we will take the time to answer all your questions. We also offer individual labour preparation sessions for you and your birth support partner to address and practice positions in labour and delivery, pain management techniques, acupressure and breathing techniques, effective pushing, and more.
If you are having difficulty, we offer evidence based care for a healthier comfortable pregnancy. Women are often told that back or joint pain, round ligament pain, or bowel or bladder issues are ‘normal’. But they do not need to be endured. Pelvic Health PT can be very effective in treating these concerns in pregnancy.

They can provide support for mood disorders such as anxiety and depression, which can arise during pregnancy and postpartum
Counselling also helps manage worries about body changes, labour and delivery, and offers a safe space to process medical or birth trauma. This holistic approach promotes emotional well-being, resilience, and a positive pregnancy experience.

Pelvic Health Physiotherapy For Post Partum
Pregnancy, labour, and delivery can take a toll on your body. Whether you had a vaginal delivery or a C-Section we can help you recover and regain strength after childbirth. We can address common postpartum issues such as low back, hip, and pelvic pain, incontinence (leaking), diastasis recti (abdominal muscles separation), and scar management through personalized exercises, manual therapy treatments, and education.
By focusing on restoring pelvic floor function and core muscle stability, we can help you to care for your newborn with confidence and comfort, return to your daily activities, exercise, and intimacy.
We can also help with breast health. If you are struggling with blocked ducts with breastfeeding, our physiotherapists can use therapeutic ultrasound to improve milk flow and reduce pain.
Massage Therapy
Our massage therapists have an excellent knowledge of the expecting mothers changing body. Prenatal massage can play an important role in supporting the well-being of expectant mothers.
This specialized massage therapy helps alleviate common pregnancy discomforts such as back pain, pelvic pain, and swelling. By promoting relaxation, massage reduces stress and anxiety, contributing to better sleep and overall emotional well-being.
And who doesn‘t deserve a massage post partum??
Pessary Fitting
Pregnancy, labour, and delivery can stretch and weaken the muscles, ligaments, and connective tissues that help to support the pelvic organs (bladder, rectum, and uterus) .
Sometimes this can cause those organs to drop (prolapse) causing heaviness and/or incontinence. A small, insertable device called a pessary can help to support the healing structures, helping to enhance postpartum recovery and improve the overall quality of life for new mothers. These can be used temporarily while tissues heal or longer term.
If a pessary is right for you, our physiotherapists can fit and sell you a custom pessary (covered by most health insurance plans)
Registered Dietitian
Our registered dietitian can help you navigate through the nutritional challenges of pregnancy and recovery. She can help ensure optimal nutrition for the expecting mother and growing baby addressing common concerns, food aversions, weight and body image concerns, and more.
As a weight inclusive, Health at Every Size practioner our dietitian, Sarah, will help you to develop a healthy relationship with food and empower you to embrace your pregnancy journey with confidence and health.
Hand Therapist
With increased fluid retention and hormonal changes, carpal tunnel syndrome, De Quervain's tenosynovitis (mommy thumb), and other hand and wrist discomforts are common during pregnancy and the post partum period.
Our Certified Hand Physiotherapist, Susan Kean, can provide specialized treatments, including exercises, splinting, and ergonomic advice, to alleviate pain and improve function.
Compression Garments
Compression socks or maternity stockings can help reduce swelling in the legs and feet, improve blood circulation, and alleviate discomfort from varicose veins. Compression garments can also offer support to the lower back and abdomen, helping to ease pregnancy-related aches and pains.
By providing gentle, consistent pressure, these garments enhance overall comfort and well-being, allowing pregnant women to move more easily and enjoy a healthier, more comfortable pregnancy.
Our Lymphedema Physiotherapist, Andrea Tilley, can discuss your various options and measure and order the garment best suited to your lifestyle and needs.
