How Can We Help?

Physiotherapy

Non-invasive physiotherapy techniques can be very effective for pediatric pelvic floor issues. These approaches include specialized exercises to strengthen and coordinate the pelvic floor muscles, biofeedback to help children become aware of their pelvic floor function, and behavioral strategies to improve bladder and bowel habits.

Education and guidance are provided to both children and their families, ensuring a supportive environment for treatment. These methods are gentle, child-friendly, and aim to significantly improve symptoms, leading to better bladder and bowel control, reduced pain, and enhanced quality of life.

Counselling for Children, Youth, and Their Parents

Bowel and bladder issues can create tension and stress in families. Our counselling therapist, Kim, can provide emotional and psychological support to both the child and their family.

She can help parents and their children develop coping strategies to manage stress and anxiety that may exacerbate symptoms. She can also help you work on behavioral interventions to improve bladder and bowel habits, addressing underlying emotional triggers.

By fostering a supportive and understanding environment, she will work with you on an approach to treatment, enhancing the effectiveness of other therapies and improving your child’s overall well-being.

Registered Dietitian

Dietary factors can contribute to symptoms such as constipation, bowel and bladder accidents, and abdominal pain. Our Dietitian, Sarah can meet with you (and your child if appropriate) to focus on finding sustainable, enjoyable eating habits that support overall gut health.

Sarah will prioritize a positive relationship with food and body, supporting you to implement an individualized plan that will promote healthy bowel and bladder function.
